✭ Interested in finding out what's happened so far? Check out the plot guide and recap post!

To get you started, here are a few optional prompts for you to use if you so wish:

1.       Cafeteria

Well, top of the mornin’ to y’all in Animus! Guess what day it is? Well, it’s the first day of Jason month and you guys know what that means? The cafeteria will be full of nutrition bars today! Enjoy your absolutely tasteless meals while you can because you’ll be forced to eat these for the whole month.

2.       Shadow Children (Event)

So, the elevator mysteriously exploded! Who, why and how? Well, no matter who is responsible, some creepy shadows are following you around, speaking in the voices of your loved ones from your world and blaming you for their predicament! Unless someone whom you have a strong bond with in the tower drives those shadows away, your collar will gradually go paler and you will die in a few days! What do you guys do? More info found here: http://animus-ooc.dreamwidth.org/396347.html

3. Elevator

Sheesh, it’s a rather long way from the top floor to the cafeteria, isn’t it? About an hour, actually. In the meantime, someone else might be in the elevator with you! Start up a conversation? Ignore each other? Start singing in the elevator? The choice is yours!

4.      Valentine’s Chocolates! (Event)

It’s Ruana month and you have all been infected with a disease by some mysterious teddy bears! Suddenly, you receive a box of chocolates which can temporarily cure your infection but many of them have special side effects. Effects can be seen here: http://animus-ooc.dreamwidth.org/120554.html

5.    Floor 29

This floor has seemed pretty peaceful so far, the maze isn't all that hard and the garden that lies beyond it is rather lovely. Still it seems best to head back now that the sun is about to set and nighttime is approaching fast. ...Is that just the leaves rustling in the wind behind you, or is it something more?

6.       Floor Seventy-Nine

Fancy some deep-sea diving? Grab some scuba gear, hop off the staircase, and explore some ruins! Just be careful you don't run out of air or run into a shark (or run into a shark while you're running low on air). Of course, if you can breathe underwater or just don't need to breathe at all, then the sharks would be your only worry. Try and find some treasure!

7.       Anywhere!

Whoops, you've gotten distracted, or lost, or you're still climbing up the stairs when night falls. It's time for the monsters to start prowling--and one's got its eyes (or whatever sensory organs it may have) on you! Time to fight back, or time to run?

I can't believe we actually have to eat nutrition bars again...

[ There's one spirit medium who looks pretty upset at the whole 'hey, your food's all fake and you've been eating these nutrition bars every day, so why bother disguising it' phase. It's not her first time dealing with this, but it always makes hard.

She's had it rough, after all. ]

Ayaka Sajyou ☤ Fate/Prototype

[personal profile] sisterofabeast 2013-08-23 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
2. Shadow Children
[ The elevator explosion was loud enough to catch her attention even from a floor where she's usually to engrossed in taking a moment to breathe easy for a change to care much about what was going on outside of it. Ayaka didn't want to leave the safety of the meadow, let alone face whatever was going on out there alone, but she firmly told herself that if she didn't, whatever it was would eventually come for her here and--

Ayaka runs from the meadow, taking the stairs as fast as she can towards the dormitory level. She knows she'll be winded long before she gets there, but she doesn't want to die-- at least, not by herself.

Sure enough, she has to stop, because her lungs... well, her chest burns like she still has lungs and her sides hurt. Ayaka tries to straighten up again, trying to keep moving in spite of herself. She stops short of taking the next step though when her eyes land on a shadow figure ahead of her.
]

4. Valentine's Chocolates*
[ Ayaka, probably stupidly, thinks nothing of the month or the chocolates that are littering the Tower. She figures that she can just avoid endangering herself (because what in the Tower is actually safe?) as long as she gives them a wide enough berth. This is why she's taken up bringing food to eat in her dorm room, rather than chancing anything getting into her food or being put there while she's not paying attention in the cafeteria. Of course, that doesn't help when the chocolate has already been put into it before she even picked it up from the cafeteria. ]

1. Cafeteria

Kanda has his head propped up on his palm as he holds a cup of water in his other hand. He eyes the food bar with disgust. He'll eventually eat it. He's not an idiot who's willing to starve himself, but he definitely isn't too fond of the item sitting on the table in front of him. "Tch."

3. Elevator

Kanda likes his complete silence when waiting for ridiculously long elevator rides to end. This is a lot less convenient than the Arc and he's getting quite irritated having to wait this long to get anywhere.

He keeps his hand on his sword and he eyes anyone else in the elevator with him, scowl on his face.

5. Floor 29

He actually finds this floor pretty decent. It's not his usual kind of place to meditate, but it's not terrible either. He's lost track of time though and now he has to head back with the sun setting. He takes his time though. He's used to fighting in the dark. Being on guard all the time. Something like this doesn't bother him in the least.

He doesn't drop his guard though, making sure to keep all his senses open. To make sure nothing gets him by surprise.

Lady Kendra Archibald El-Melloi (female AU of Kayneth) | Fate/Zero | OTA

[personal profile] surfacetension 2013-08-23 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Elevator:
[A tall, blonde woman is standing on one side of the elevator, her lip rising in a not-very-pleasant curl. She is very determinedly ignoring the other person in the elevator with her, but can she keep this up for an hour? She mutters something under her breath, in which the word absurd figures prominently. She tries not to glare sidelong daggers at the other person in the elevator with her. Really, she almost tries.]

Floor 32:
[Unfortunately, Kendra has stumbled onto a floor where powers are negated. That would be aggravating enough--her power is a part of her, and not one she cares to be parted from--but what makes it worse, for her, is the fact that her magical prosthetics have suddenly stopped functioning. Beneath her clothes and gloves, they're indistinguishable from real limbs, when functioning. Now they're nothing but dead weight. She sits on the grass, her skirts spread out around her. She inches her way carefully along the ground, trying to maintain some dignity, but she can already tell it's not going to be enough. She's going to have to crawl her way off this floating island with her one whole, functioning arm. She's not looking forward to it. She lets out a long sigh.]

Floor 15:
[She's availed herself of the space and materials and appears to be hard at work, making--something?--out of wood and metal. Thus far, it's large and formless, but it doesn't appear to serve any practical purpose. Behind her is a large, animated construct made of gleaming mercury, holding her tools and handing them to her when needed, without a need for a single command from her, as if sensing what she wants.]

[[OOC: In her AU, Kendra/Kayneth was born female, was in an (unhappy, to say the least) arranged marriage with Cornelius Alba, and fought alongside Rider (Alexander the Great) and against her husband in the Holy Grail War, which she lost but survived, though at great cost.]]

[Cafeteria]
[She could understand why one would sympathize for those that had but no other choice than to eat the bars. She grew disgusted, after all, just turning one about in her hand. She had also learned, however, that to survive in this Tower, one had to make difficult choices. So, she stared at meal, eyes narrowing as she made a difficult decision.

...

She tossed the bar away, grinning. This one certainly one of those moments where she enjoyed not having to eat to live.]

Disgusting.

[Shadow Children (Event)]
[She couldn't help but to laugh in the face of those afflicted by the shadows. The way they coward or protested as they approached. The way some thought they could save others, but failed miserably in their attempts. Admittedly, she found these creatures to be fascinating. Even more so by their complete disinterest in her.

She began to theorize, ponder. What was it that triggered the shadows? Where their intentions nothing but to cause harm to their victims? Oh? You think this is so that she may help? Oh no, you silly person.

It's clear that she's fascinated by them. Wondering how it was that she may be able to use them to her advantage here.]

((OOC: Basically, Maleficent is stalking the shadows, aka, yours. Have fun!))

[Anywhere]
[She grew listless within the confines of the Tower. Being unable to leave freely bothered her to no ends, but alas, she had begun to become accustomed to this place. So much so that she's taken to wandering the halls, the floors and stairways. Getting a layout of the land, as it were. Maybe you see her turning a corner? Or maybe you see her fond familiar, Diablo, flying about. Is he keeping guard?]

[Cafeteria]

[Irisviel seemed far more interested by the nutrition bar she had been given then a normal person should. Never has she ever eaten such a thing in all her short life, how wonderful it was that a meal could be processed down into a single rectangle! Of course, the taste left something to be desired, but the idea was amusing and novel enough to cause Irisviel to giggle lightly as she ate her meal.]

[Open]

[Irisviel could be found near anywhere in the tower that she didn't feel directly threatened. From trying every electronic toy she could get her hands on in the media room to walking from floor to floor with something of a skip in her step, Irisviel's bright view of life is quite evident in her every action, save for moments when memories of home cause her to stop in place and sigh.]
odetothefallen: (On stormy seas)

Allen Walker | D.Gray-man

[personal profile] odetothefallen 2013-08-23 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
Cafeteria

This is torture. It's food but it tastes bland. It could be a lot worse. He could still be in the dungeon and having to refuse food to be sure he wasn't getting drugged.

...

Thoughts like that are why anyone coming in will find a white haired boy with a scar on his face stuffing bars into his face and chewing slowly. He might as well eat what he has available.

Floor 10

Walking from end to end of the tower would take days, maybe weeks. None of it should be possible, but in his life Allen has seen a lot stranger things. He enters floor ten and stops. The floor has wide hallways that pass along side water that stays into blocks. As if that isn't enough fish leap between them like salmon flying upstream.

He stares open mouthed at the strange sight and remembers to stop looking like an idiot. The more he explores the tower, the stranger the sights are. "How?"

Floor 88

It was a shame that no one is playing music on the 88th floor. Bars always have some form of a melody to accompany the drinking and socializing of the drunk and disorderly. It's almost eerie to Allen to see one so empty. He's been all over the world, witnessed bars of all sorts and it almost feels like coming home. The smoke is as familiar to him as the floor of the floorboards beneath his boots.

He steps past the chairs closest to the exit and makes his way over to the pool table at the center. It's newer, more modern but the game is fresh in his mind. It had begun to make a name for itself back home. The lower class had taken a liking to it more than the rich. It was their sort of game.

He arranges the balls in the center and picks up a stick, running his hands along the wood. It's smooth, and light. Until the glare of the overhead lights he leans down, taking aim with the pool cue.

A game won't hurt.

[1. Cafeteria]

[During the brief time she'd been here, she had realized that there were rather gruesome choices she had to make during her stay here in the tower. One of those things?

How much she detested the food here in the cafeteria. She much preferred hunting, even on the nicer months. Needless to say, this meant she wasn't going to have any of that food bar nonsense. Rather, she only came here to see if there were any familiar faces. Something she highly doubted and prayed she would never see in a tower like this, even though most of those she knew would be able to handle the horrors that came from this place.]

[5. Floor 29]

[The maze had indeed been at least useful for killing some time, simply exploring and growing more familiar with the floors here. However, with the time soon entering dusk, Lightning's hand reached behind her. That rustling has he on edge, even if it doesn't show nearly as much as it would have for most others. Instead she simply grabs hold of Ultima Weapon, keeping it in its gun form as she turns the corner.

She's ready to fight if she has to, though if you aren't careful, you may end up with a gunblade pointed at you. It is nearly nightfall, after all. Even on Cocoon, the monsters were more active at night.]

[2. Shadow Children]

[You were supposed to save us! a shadow's voice she did not know shouted at her. You were our savior!

"I'm no savior," she thought as she kept walking, "Just a sinner."

The many voices continued to shout at her, blaming her for them becoming like this, dying with their world and becoming phantoms while she still lived. Crying out for a savior she'd never be, claiming that she should have stayed with them and saved them rather than slept and become an eternal epitaph for one soul. Even so far as evoking Etro's name, claiming that she'd sinned once again (though she is fairly certain that was one of the many Yeuls, or perhaps Caius - it isn't like she's allowing them the time of day.

H-hey now, you gonna just ignore me again? Sazh's voice caused her to pause briefly in step as his shadow cried over the rest. Ignore your sister and the others after all we went through together?]

...Sazh.

[Light, we thought you sacrificed yourself with Fang and Vanille... Of course. That's how she'd been written out of history, wasn't it? But why? Why did you leave us?

"It wasn't like I had a choice," she thought back, her fist clenching tight. Yet she kept walking away, away from the massive congregation of shadows and their accusations.

"But what about our promise? We were going to see each other again, so why did you abandon my memory?"

Now that one hit hard, as she prayed it wouldn't yet knew with the cacophony of noise already, she would hear her sweet sister's voice. It once was so kind and peaceful, but this...

It was like all others disappeared as she heard her father and mother chime in after Serah, but she doesn't turn to face them. Accusations of not upholding vows made at their graves, of endangering her further and taking all the responsibility on by herself... She'd heard enough.]

...This is goodbye.

[If there was anything she was good at other than destroying, it was running. She just hoped she could do that from these things.]

[ Cafeteria ]

[ Savalia's eaten some pretty awful stuff in her time, what with being a part of the Scourge army back when the Lich King was around. She stares at the flimsy bar down in front of her as if it's a specimen, resting her head in her plated hand. It's mostly unappetizing to the undead elf, who simply chucks it carelessly to the side somewhere.

It seems like she's leaving for broader horizons, but when she returns, her arms are filled with raw meat from the monsters around with a hide of one draping itself on her shoulder. It matters not that her tabard, armor or weapon has bloodstains on it since she can simply clean them. She goes in to the kitchen and gets to work on making herself a meal.

Care to ask her if she'll share? ]

[ Elevator ]

[ The elevator to her were like the ones in Orgrimmar to transport someone to the zeppelin towers, so it wasn't too jarring. However, the longer she has to wait, the more impatient she gets. She has places to be, people to see--

Okay, maybe not.

Savalia sighs and leans back on the wall, arms folded as she taps her foot idly. Hope you don't mind the faint smell of a rotting corpse around you while you ride in this elevator. ]

[ Shadow Children | Event ]

[ For the most part, Savalia's been able to ignore the taunts of her shadows. She knows they're not real and it'd take a lot more than petty insults to tear the Frost Weaver down.

"Mama... Why do you get to live and we don't? It's not fair, mama... I wanted to live, too. You're mean, mama."

"I just have to fight like hell. That's all," thought Savalia as she kept walking, her resolve hardened even more.

However, what gave her pause was when she could hear his voice... The very one who believed in her to be so much more than what she gave herself credit for: her lord Arkanae Sin'rendas.

"I thought that you loved me, my knight. Did you want to end up using me, too...?"

Okay. This tower could screw with her all they wanted. She didn't care. But, when they went so far as to defile her lord's memory, well she'll be more than angry.

In fact, now what she's doing is attempting to freeze the shadows with a frigid tempest of air while they keep taunting her. Best not get too close if one values their life. ]
facexpalm: (devastated; no words could make it ok...)

Squall Leonhart | Final Fantasy VIII

[personal profile] facexpalm 2013-08-23 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[1. Elevator]

Squall really enjoys silence. For some reason, it has always been something he appreciated. Actually, that could have something to do with the fact that... it is something he rarely ever gets to enjoy. Someone always has to talk to him. Interrupt his thoughts.

Right now, even his thoughts are silent. It probably has to do with the fact that, at this moment, he is still in slight shock. He has been here less than a week, and all he really feels like doing is wondering the tower. Anything to keep him busy. Of course... standing in an elevator might not have been the best option. Next time, he knows to take the stairs. Having to stand in an enclosed place... Well, it is kind of forcing him to realize things he would rather not think about, right now.

Placing his hand on the hilt of his gunblade, he looks down and sighs. His other hand moves to his face, rubbing downward in an exasperated manner. Okay, maybe silence is not a good thing when all your mind wants to do is think about... people possibly being dead. People you spent a lot of time taking for granted, without realizing it. People you still had things to say to. People that...

[2. Floor 29]

Squall will finally admit it, now. This had been a terrible idea. The mercenary clenches his teeth just slightly, his eyes scanning the area. Seriously, why did he even start the maze? He should have just turned around and took the stairs up to the next floor.

It is getting dark.

It is not that he is worried about being out in the dark, though. He is more concerned with the fact that he needs to eat. And when was the last time he drank any water?

[3. Anywhere-Shadow Children]

"How could you let us die, Squall?"

Let them? How did he "let" them die...? Wait, why are these shadows talking to him? Why are they following his every step?

"Lionheart, I woulda never expected something like that. Even from your sorry ass!"

That was Seifer's voice. Why would he be here, though? This makes no sense...

"You were supposed to lead us... you let us down, Squall."

... He did let them down, did he not...? No, stop! These are not really them! These are a figment of his imagination. This place has a spell on him, or something! Just ignore it. Ignore it.

"I can't believe I ever considered you a friend."

But, Irvine...

No, stop thinking it is real!

"You left me... You let me die while in that coma!"

Hearing Rinoa's voice saying that is similar to having some of the life sucked out of him. He stops walking. His eyes land on the shadow responsible for saying that to him. It is true... he did let her die. He let everyone die. They are all gone, while he is stuck here.

Maybe that was the reason he could not stop aimlessly wandering this tower. He was hoping to find them here. He was hoping that anything, other than this, would happen. Could these things be their ghosts? Could they be haunting him?

[1. Elevator]
]
This is unlike any elevator he has ever used. It is completely encased in metal. It actually gives him a slightly feeling of claustrophobia. He nervously shifts, his hand resting on his hip as he stares up at the numbers. Seriously, could this go any slower?! He wrinkles his brow, before letting out an exasperated sigh.

He could seriously use a distraction, right about now. His thoughts turn to his friends and his expression shifts to a sad one. If they were here, right now, they would probably be teasing him. Man, he never thought he would enjoy the thought of that happening.

"I swear I'm never getting on this thing, ever again."

[2. Cafeteria]

The elevator ride being over has him fairly excited. In spite of still being confused and kind of in shock about his current situation, he still manages to give a smile when he is handed the oatmeal. A small part of him had expected to never leave that large metal contraption.

Sitting down at the first table he spots, he lets out a sigh and begins eating. Honestly, the oatmeal is not all that bad. It could use a heck of a lot more sugar, though. Oh well, he is too hungry to care at this point. It also helps to eat it fast, because then it is a little easier to pretend that is good.

[3. Anywhere-Valentine's Chocolates]

Coconut... Not what he expected when he bit into that particular chocolate. Setting the box aside on his bed, he stands. Maybe chocolate is not the best thing to fill up on. He has not actually eaten anything, today. With that thought in mind, Luke decides to head for the cafeteria.

On the way there, he suddenly realizes that he has... some seriously strange thoughts forming in his mind. Oh, a cute girl! Before Luke even has a chance to stop himself, he is giving her a wide smile.

"Hey there, cutie~! What's your name?"

Good thing she is walking away rather quickly. Luke is kind of worried to think what he might have said... or done, if she had not.

What the heck is going on, here...? Why does he suddenly not have control over his own mouth?!

He drops the bar and pokes at it, brow furrowed.
]

Where's the chocolate in this place?

[ What's the point of spending some time in this weird tower (which couldn't be long, Sweden must be coming to pick him up soon) if you couldn't even have chocolate for breakfast? ]

[Floor 29]

[ This isn't going how Sealand hoped it would. A maze! That sounded like a fun game! He always beat those little paper mazes in the colouring books Sweden bought for him. That's practically the same, right?

Well, apparently not.

[While the elevators at the lighthouses weren't much faster than this one, they were certainly much more comfortable. She's not quite used to the small enclosed spaces that seem to dominate the tower, and being in one for such an extended period of time only exacerbates the problem. At this point, though, it can't be helped. She's in here for the duration of the ride. So, she'll stay calm, but she wouldn't mind conversation if the other occupant in the elevator was willing.]

[Chocolates; Coconut Flavor!]

[She's started feeling strange after that piece of chocolate. There were no discernible toxins, and her symptoms didn't feel like any sort of reaction to poison. The chocolate certainly didn't taste strange.]

[But, as if she has no control over her body, she walks up to the next person she sees and taps them on the shoulder to get their attention.]

Excuse me sir, I couldn't help but notice how handsome you look. Would you happen to be free tonight?

[It had been a relaxing day in the garden, but with the sun setting, she was more than happy to be heading home. It's rather dark, though, and there appears to be something rustling in the bushes. She won't call attention to it, but she will hold her staff a little bit tighter.]

[ Standing at the edge of the maze, where the puzzle ends and the garden begins, is a man clad in holy vestments. The gold of his cross stands out boldly against his chest, catching the fading sunlight with a glow that flickers as he steps forward. His posture is tall, and his clothing disguises a body trained for combat, but his expression is not unkind. There is a sense of curiosity from him, but no concern -- despite how he has been so usurped from what should be considered his home.

It's wrong to say his presence comes with a sense of pressure; it's more like a void.

In a detached way, Kirei can tell that the garden before him is beautiful. He has an objective sense of what aesthetics are considered pleasing, by the traditional definitions of such things, while feeling no such fascination of his own.

On a whim, his hand extends to one pale rose and its thorns prick his palm, drawing blood. He does not flinch, rubbing the droplets lightly between his thumb and forefinger.

The pain feels real; he is not dreaming -- although it would be more shocking it he were, for he is not prone to fantasy. Fantasy requires some measure of desires, or want.

Kirei Kotomine has no such things.

anyway, he's not here and neither is his brother, and kariya had tried looking for them. then he'd tried staying in one place to wait for them to find him. .. and now he's tired and hungry and lonely and a little bit scared. this place is so big compared to his house, and the crest worms are squirming around and gnawing, and it hurts. it always hurts.

still, he almost forgets about it when he wanders into.. the outside? he's outside. he freezes for several seconds, little bare toes curling uncertainly in the grass. he shouldn't be here, he's not allowed, and he's going to get in so much trouble, and father will tell him he was bad and weak and he'll go back down into the basement--

but a few minutes won't hurt, right? he crouches down, fingers flattening in the grass, little face lighting up in startled pleasure. it's so pretty, and it feels nice and smells nice and it's not at all like home. he hops back up, adjusting his eyepatch absently as he scurries nervously across the lawn to a patch of flowers. he's going to be punished when father finds him, he knows, but..

.. oh. oh, there's a grown-up here, and it's not one of his family members. he's never met another one before, so for a few seconds, he hangs back uncertainly, staring up at the other figure with one solemn gray eye. what is he supposed to do now? ]
Um. [ he fidgets, fingers curling in the hem of his shirt. ] Hello.

Library (3rd floor):
[Johan is seated at a table in the library, quietly reading a book. It isn't one he'd found here in the Tower. It's one that he found in his trunk. He looks over the pictures with a vacant expression. Now and again his lips move silently, as if he's mouthing the words he reads.]

Floor 29:
[Something about the maze fascinates him, and he's been there for hours, passing slowly through the hedges, stopping from time to time to admire the flowers. He's completely at ease. There's no sign that his new surroundings worry him. Other than this complete calm, the only thing about him that's slightly odd is the fact that his head is wrapped in bandages, but whatever the cause, he doesn't appear to be in any pain.

When he senses another presence, he looks up, turning away from the roses he was just admiring.
] Good morning. [He smiles.] It's beautiful, isn't it?

[Gardens are nice, good. Definitely worth Mary's attention and it makes traversing the maze worth the time it takes. She's clever though and older than anyone would think, mazes don't bother her the way they do other people. There's always a trick to them.

She's glad to simply spend her time there all day until it's dangerously close to the monsters coming out to play. Even then, it's not an enormous cause for concern.]

Anywhere!

[She's lost. Desperately and hopeless lost.

Or she's just exploring. Your call.]

[3: Elevator]

[Elevators are for one purpose: to get from point A to point B. And while Xemnas would ordinarily forgo such mundane methods in favor of the corridors of Darkness, it's hard to go somewhere he's never been before, which means exploration.

Which means more specifically, elevators.

The black coat probably isn't unfamiliar to the tower, or possibly the silver-haired, golden-eyed man wearing it. He waits peacefully in the back, hands clasped behind him, the very picture of serene patience. It's a long way from the top, and dinner awaits.]

[1: Cafeteria]

[What's this? Bland and tasteless and utterly uncreative nutrition bars for meals?

... It's kind of like being home on a day nobody cares to cook and isn't silly enough to leave it to Dusks. Which might be why Xemnas probably hasn't even noticed the utterly bland tastelessness of his current meal, mostly preoccupied with note-taking instead. Where he got the spiral notebook OR the pen is probably a bit more of a mystery but dinner is tended to with mechanical disinterest.

It's food, and it didn't induce a gag reflex. That's really all he needed to know.

... Nom.]

[Third Floor Library]

[For anyone passing by, it's hard to miss the frantic blonde woman darting back and forth between shelves, picking up books excitedly, almost randomly. There's a look in her eyes akin to crazed as she stacks them haphazardly in her arms.]

So many! So many books! [She's absolutely giddy, and her book-related hysteria only seems to be becoming louder and more exuberant the more books she piles into her arms.]

[Michelle can--and will--be in here all day unless forcibly removed. If you're lucky (if you can consider this lucky), you'll catch her when the initial craze seems to have passed its way through her system. In which case she'll be nearly buried within a literal pile she has formed with the books taken from the shelves. This hardly seems to have deterred her from reading one of them. In fact, she seems quite comfortable.]

Danielle "Dani" Phantom - Danny Phantom

[Floor 36]

[Elevators are boring and somewhere halfway down the stairs, Dani got tired of walking. Taking a brief moment to check that nobody was around, she shifted to ghost form and... dived. Straight down. Through the stairs. Overall, this was a pretty effective maneuver. Floors were flashing past, with the occasional thing catching her attention, but by the time she saw it, it was gone. Whatever. There'd be plenty of time to explore later.

Things were going well until she hit floor 36, at which point the telltale twin rings suddenly appeared and spread up her body, leaving her depowered and unmistakably human. Letting out a yell of surprise, she fell, tumbling down the stairs and landing on the landing of the floor itself with a bump. It took her a moment before she sat up again, rubbing a particularly sore spot on her back.]

Okay, okay... bad idea...

[Floor 1 - Cafeteria]

[Dani lifts one of the nutrition bars with a vaguely disgusted expression on her face. The oatmeal her first time had been bad enough, but now this?]

What is this stuff? They look like bricks.

[She wonders if hurling it at the wall would change its shape at all...]

Valentine's Chocolates

It all seemed so simple, so innocent at first. There was a curse, and chocolate would cure it? It lined up well enough Annika's general expectations of how reality operated. Eat chocolate, get magic? Yes. Sure. Without even bothering to check for a little slip of paper to determine flavors, she plucked one from the box, popped it in her mouth... and then silently lamented that she'd have caramel stuck in her teeth for the rest of the day. Ah well. At least she could still taste a hint of the sweetness. Small mercies for one with dulled senses.

So she had gone back to tower explorations and to monster-smiting, but during all of her efforts she came across... someone incredible. So beautiful, so incomparable, they ought to be preserved as an example of perfection for future generations to learn from. Her dead and sluggish heart had stirred before in such a way, yes, but never so strongly. And when she felt something strongly enough for it to be notable, she made it a policy to go with it.

There's a good chance that you are this incomparable, beautiful, wonderful person. You might want to duck, because that is a very large fireball coming in at you from behind, being fired by what looks like some sort of ambulatory discolored corpse.

"My darling! There you are!"

Cafeteria

A new month holds new promise and new avenues to explore, and Annika is not going to take this sudden shift to bland food as a purely negative thing. The composition of the food here has already piqued her interest. This is a chance to investigate it in further depth! So she's chewing away cheerfully enough at one bar, then pausing to cut another one into perfectly square little segments, and then resuming her chewing while scribbling notes down on filched paper from the workshop.

"Starches and simple structures... hmm, low moisture content, though. Obviously meant to last for ages... wouldn't be my choice in outfitting a place like this..."

A spark of fire from her fingers, and she renders one of the carefully-cut cubes into ash, which she rubs between her fingertips. And with a little sound, neither positive nor negative, she makes more notes. Care to interject?

[ Anywhere ]

Yosuga has been idly wandering the hallways for hours, now. She seems to be searching for something (or someone, perhaps?), as her eyes scan each room she passes. There is a disappointed expression (more like a pout, rather) each time she goes back to looking at the floor.

Her face always reads 'not here, either'.

In truth, she is looking for one person. Only one. The only person who has managed to force his way into her heart, since her arrival at that terrible terrible place. Even thinking about him, her expression falls further. If he is not here, then why is she?

What is the point?

Simply the thought of him not being here gives her an empty feeling, and the tiny spot between her brows furrows. She stops walking. Her arms slowly move to wrap themselves around her upper body, defending herself against a non-existent chill. Maybe he is not here, after all. Maybe Yosuga is looking for nothing... for no reason, at all. An empty expression is resting itself on her face, now, as she whispers the name. A failed attempt at possibly bringing herself even an ounce of relief from this... oncoming feeling of dread at existing here, without him.

"Toto..."

[Okay. He was expecting a lot more of a challenge than he got when he began making his way through this maze. Now that he's reached the peaceful little garden, he's thankful for the chance to sit down on one of the benches and relax a bit.

He manages to enjoy about a minute and a half of downtime before a faint but distinguishable noise makes its way to his ears. He stiffens when he hears it somewhere behind him, and refuses to turn around as he speaks up, voice quavering.]

Cafeteria
[The tall young man has a plate of nutrition bars and a glass of water in his hands as he makes his way through the cafeteria. He is looking for people he recognizes, and if he sees any of them, he will join them. If he doesn't, however, he will pick the most secluded table he can and sit down to eat on his own.

He looks to be deep in thought. Processing what events may have led up to his arrival here, perhaps, or maybe something else?]

Cafeteria Kitchens
[The meal was unsatisfying. Felix is not a connoisseur of food, but he knows what he likes and what he doesn't. Jason's nutrition bars are on his list of dislikes.

After clearing the crumbs of nutrition bars from his table he walks past the worker units staffing the cafeteria and into the kitchens. He hopes that he can find something more appetizing to prepare here, as he doesn't want to begin explorations of the tower on a dissatisfied stomach.

Five minutes later he realizes with a heavy heart that there is nothing in here but more ingredients for nutrition bars. He doesn't look happy.]

Library
[Knowledge is power. Knowing things translates into action, and it is only by action that anything can ever be accomplished. So when Felix comes across this floor he does not ignore it. Rather, he steps onto it and makes a beeline for the shelves.

Books of all kinds. He wonders how anyone could have this large of a collection, and is content to spend the rest of the daylight hours perusing the shelves.]
