Sayaka had no idea what had happened when she woke up the next day. ..Well, that's not quite true. She woke under the effects of sleep paralysis, and she'd been in the tower long enough to learn that's what happens when you die and come back - but she didn't know how or what did it.

But Jin had done his homework. He'd consulted with Mami beforehand, another Puella Magi who actually knew about the secret of a corrupted Soul Gem. He gave her the Grief Seed gotten as a prize for defeating Octavia, and Sayaka was quick to use it and start asking where it was from. With Roxas as living evidence of what happened, and Jin plainly relaying the facts -

This began the chapter in Sayaka's life where she started to view her every action and feeling as a potential cost. She had to be careful. She couldn't afford to screw up and hurt the other people in the tower as a result. And she didn't want to become a monster again.
