At her canon point, Sayaka felt there was nothing left to do with herself as she was _{(not even human anymore)} but to keep jumping into fights with Witches and their Familiars until either there were no more Witches left, or the more likely option of no more Sayaka left. And that would be okay, right? As long as she upheld those principles that Mami had left her, to be a good person and a better Puella Magi than the others... it meant less that she was about to lose everything she wanted herself. That was all selfish, anyway..!

(It's pretty obvious none of that would be okay at all, but what could she do? She'd just driven away Madoka, or believed she had. She couldn't say anything to Kyousuke because of what she'd become...)

--And then she woke up in the tower.

It's only been a month, but he's even angstier. And he'll never fool around with another person's body again. Ever.

Hold on, there's gonna be some tl;dr...

INCOMING HERD OF TEAL DEER.

Okay, okay. For real this time. Lancer has gotten over Misaya's death somewhat. At least, he's out of the angry stage where he wants to rip into everything. the first time he met Saber, he actually ended up in tears, which, while extremely embarrassing, was also therapeutic. As a result, he now owes Saber big time. He still sorta blames himself, but wants some constructive way of atoning.

During the bodyswitch event, he ran around trying to make out with everybody, not even stopping to think that it might be creepy or that people would get angry. It took Kido slapping him to make him realize that he shouldn't have done it, so he spent the rest of the week trying to apologize. And to make it worse, he started getting Ruler's memories, so for a little while, he actually thought he was Ruler. Her reaction during the aftermath also drove in how much of a jerk he was. So now the fact that she's just taking the higher road and ignoring him? It's driving him nuts. It's another one of the long list of things that he feels guilty about. He just wishes she could punch him and get it over with, so that she no longer needs to blame herself for what Lancer did. Since she's living in the tower right beside him, he can't just forget about this guilt.

But all this shit is his own fault. So try not to offer him any sympathy

Sayaka arrived on February 6th of this year.

The tower snatched her up right in the midst of what was going to be an ultimately inescapable slide into darkness, and it did a surprisingly good job of stymieing it. Removed from the situation and put amidst a very distracting mystery, Sayaka was swept up by figuring out the tower, or at least how to exist in the tower. She just kind of was.. there, for a while, not sure what to feel or act like other than confused. At first she fought the tower's monsters - but quickly came to realize how precious her limited magic reserves were, and that the monsters came back without fail. Going out to fight them just because was worthless, so she stopped. Better to save it for when someone needed help.

This started to get her to accept an important lesson she'd lost sight of; that a Puella Magi really does need to carefully manage themselves.

And then she saw Taiki drown in blood during Hittori Kakurenbo and realized oh, okay, this IS a horrible place.

Worst characters gets the most development so far awright

That's right! They're like huge, fuzzy, monochromatic balms to all of life's woes.

Until they sneeze. Then the brown note causes all the pain of life to bury you all over again.

I'll blather pointless stupidity when I've actually eaten because this will take actual energy.

This marks the point when Sayaka started thinking of the tower as an active enemy itself, rather than just this unusual place she happened to be trapped in that had some sharp-toothed fauna.

Breaking chronology because it's for suckers, I'd like to note Sayaka's progress from 'utterly neglecting anything resembling a personal life,' to now, where she can hang out with people without questioning herself in her head if she even should be there.

Physically/Skillwise

~~Yes this counts I DO WHAT I WANT~~

BABY IS NOW AROUND A YEAR AND A HALF OLD. Still doesn't know when her birthday is tho (spoilers: it's April 8th in the Tower - THANK YOU DAYS FOR HAVING A CONCRETE TIMELINE).

A tiny bit taller. Starting to fill out a tiny bit in the chest and hips but not too much because what are consistent food supplies (except on Dax months) in the Tower to make sure one is getting the proper nutritional value for growing. Her hair probably is a bit longer than the icons show, reaching around the middle of her neck. Nowhere near as long as Kairi's in KH2 or Namine's, but still longer.

Skillwise, her canon skillsets/abilities have been refined a fair bit from training with the first Aqua while she was here. But much more prominently, she's been training with OU Reno to learn some alternate fighting styles and he's been encouraging her to rely on her Keyblade a lot less, or use it differently than the way she has thus far. She knows a fair bit of hand-to-hand combat that he's been showing her, and how to wield her Keyblade the way Reno does an EMR.

Even in general, when she uses her Keyblade the way she used to in Days, she relies a lot more on fast movement, dodging and quick strikes than she used to. Despite all this, Xion still gets pretty antsy if powers are nerfed for whatever reason and she finds herself unable to use her Keyblade. Nearly a year's worth of having it drummed into your head that your only worth is the Keyblade will do that to you.

Also she has tried to learn sewing. And has made two shirts - one overlarge sleeveless one and one with sleeves. Neither are very warm though and the stitching is a little awkward. Sewing has not come naturally to her at all.

Emotionally

Xion was sort of at a mental and emotional crossroads when she arrived back in January. The thing is... removing her from the situation has removed her a great deal from the circumstances of that crossroads, and she's been doing her best to cope with the situation.

Her actual development, as always, tends to yo-yo. Sometimes she'll seem to be feeling more confident and proactive, and then a week later something will happen that will have her hiding in her friends' rooms again ~~This has actually happened~~. Everything is change, everything is in flux. Very little seems to settle for too long. The overall trend seems to be improving slowly, though it's a difficult process, sometimes helped and just as often hindered by the Tower or its inhabitants.

So far as her opinion of herself, lately she's backslid back more towards her canon feelings of "I have no right to exist," mainly because of the memorynomming and because lately she's had a lot of reminders of who and what she is, given that she's had to explain it to quite a few people - including Sora himself. Even before that, it wasn't like she didn't believe that - more that there were too many other things going on in the Tower to really think about it. It just didn't register because in the midst of, say, gathering food and fighting monsters in June, contemplating one's existence just wasn't that important in the grand scheme of things. Only time will tell - given plots and plans - how this will progress.

Her confidence is fighting a constant battle though. She's trying her best to become more empowered, taking self-defense with Reno and learning how to do things like sewing, and yet every once in a while something comes along that knocks that confidence down several pegs - particularly fights with Vanitas (OU or AU) and just yesterday/today being captured and used against Reno by Ganondorf. It leaves her feeling useless and like a burden, and that frustrates and upsets her. It's a case of one step forward, two steps back.

Then there's her friends, but that'll get its own section.

And finally she seems to have a small but growing crush on Yu Narukami though it's honestly hard to tell because despite knowing what a date is and a little more about love in canon she is still totally oblivious 90% of the time.

So... Shion came to the tower from quite an early canon point. He had left the city and was living in the West Town, he had discovered that Safu was missing and had his fight with Nezumi. He was wanting to prove himself capable of helping, capable of dealing with the world outside No. 6. He also wanted to find a third path, not leaving things as it was but not destroying No. 6 either.

Then out of the blue his world got destroyed, he ended up in a horror tower and he freaked. And kept freaking because SCIENCE and also horror and nothing made sense. He freaked the entirety of December and somehow managed to stay alive and functioning until the January moving event where he got killed. He then proceeded to die three more times between them and the beginning of March thanks to a mixture of murder trolls, murder chocolate and murder teddy bears.

Trolls, chocolates and teddy bears all were added to his list of THINGS THAT SHOULD NOT EXIST OR AT LEAST SHOULD NOT MURDER YOU WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE WORLD

He didn't develop much in that time exept to shut down with fear, his usual great thinking and working things out didn't happen, he read a lot and worked in the library but focussed on just getting past each day without his mind exploding from the fact YOU CANT DIE AND SCIENCE IS BROKEN ALSO THE WORLD HAS ENDED

Somewhere in all that mess he met Xion and Equius and they became friends. (Well in the case of the former. With the latter... their relationship remains interesting to this day but on Shion's part it is friendship.)

The murder teddy bears were interesting because Shion was helpless, he had to witness suffering and be able to do nothing about it. Something that he doesn't come across in canon (not properly anyways) until after the point he is taken from. One of Shion's largest flaws is that he will always try and do the immediate kindest thing regardless of the consequences. And he still struggles in gauging consequences even today. But being killed instead of letting someone die was a good lesson in that.

Then Reno arrived and Shion befriended him, first as a kind of annoying little brother who snooped in his stuff, winning him over when he tried to save him from stone vultures. Reno discovered Shion's habit of panicking during the collar swap and worked on stopping him from doing that. Slowly Shion came to be able to rationalise the fact that SCIENCE IS WRONG and THE WORLDS ARE GONE and ARGH WHY IS EVERYTHING I KNOW A LIE and start to think again.

May was probably the biggest jump forward in character development with Shion. The labyrinth itself was mostly uneventful, he somehow survived to Day 2, got betrayed and killed.

However his punishment was ~~more horrific and beautiful than anything I could ever devise~~ really bad. After six days of seeing Nezumi killed over and over again for Shion's crimes, mistakes and lack of knowledge Shion had cracked.

He spent a while being broken, letting the anger that anyone had dared hurt Nezumi, and the hopelessness that he had been powerless to stop them mix with the guilt that it was all his fault. And then he went crazy and tried to kill the infirmary workers during a collar checkup.

He died. Worse, Reno was furious at him and that more than anything was what dragged Shion out of the daze of rage and guilt. After lots of crying Reno gave him a Turk pin and gave him a choice.

So Shion, derpy kid from No. 6 who names mice and reads to starving children became a Turk. Yup.

I am more amazed that Shion has the most positive character development arc out of my characters...

Anyways.

He trained with Reno and now he can kind of fight, keep a cool head in an emergency and is becoming more like later canon Shion with a Animus-Turk twist. He has a handful of new skills, he was even learning to swim before Maestro attacked.

Throughout June he was able to teach Xion and Reno his own skills of mushroom identifying and has no written a short book on the mushrooms and edible plants of Animus. He is also working on compiling a tower report for Reno. Going to his dead world shook him but not as much as it would have six months ago. Even when Reno disappeared as the space whale attacked Shion managed to keep a cool head and survive, with the help of Elena and Xion.

Of course there are still moments where he reverts, in June during the break ins he snapped at Xigbar for not caring that Reno was dead, Vanitas is pretty much enough to make him furious and also terrified; and he will probably die every time he faces him because he wont back down.

He still is fiercely loyal with a tendancy to beserk but his friendships are wider, if anything happened to Reno or Xion things would be very bad. And I'm not sure what he would do if a Nezumi appeared.

But out of all my pups he is the most functional.

I am actually impressed

And will shut up now.

Relationships

Friendships, as always, are everything to Xion ~~Which is why this gets its own section~~. They're the most valuable thing she has and the thing that impact her the most. The Tower can throw all of its horrors at her and she'll bounce back fairly well, but if it takes her friends away from her... well, let's just say her ability to cope will be severely hampered in that instance.

Xion, overall is mostly content to stick with her small but close group of friends - part of why tagging out and around can be difficult with her sometimes. But overall, her circle of friends is much wider than it was in canon, and that... helps a lot.

In regards to some of the people closest to her, though, it's odd, because there's an almost inverse relationship to the one in canon. Now that she's had the ability to meet Sora and befriend him, she utterly adores him and is willing to do so much for him, defend him to the death, and frankly walk right off the Tower for him, even though in canon she was not nearly as close or as devoted. Meanwhile, Xion feels she's drifting from Roxas some, partially because of the awkwardness involved in their respective canon points. This frankly, upsets and worries her some. Regardless, she will still defend him in a heartbeat (case in point: chewing Loki out over the network when he called Roxas a failure). He's still important to her, and nothing will change that.

Xion is also now a Turk (recruited by Reno), part of the first official "family" she's ever had - not that Roxas and Axel weren't her family in canon, I'm just not sure she ever thought of them as such except maybe a little in retrospect. It's reminded her a little about the Organization, but overall they've been much better for her than the Organization was. She's starting to trust the more with details about herself, and she feels a bit more confident knowing they have her back. Especially Reno and Shion who... she basically relies on them both ridiculously heavily and almost unhealthily.
