TEST DRIVE MEME

You want to join the game with a (new) character? Maybe you’re simply curious about the premise? Or maybe you just need a sample. Well that’s the meme for you to try and test your character as if they were already in the tower! The meme is open to anyone!

• Reply to this entry with a character you consider apping! Put your character’s name and fandom- Your usual meme thing.
• Comment around with your pups. You can also post and tag with characters already in-game of course!
• Most importantly, have fun!!
Then feel free to go and reserve and app your character when those open.

Have a number of prompts to get you started:

[Floor 29]: This floor has seemed pretty peaceful so far, the maze isn't all that hard and the garden that lies beyond it is rather lovely. Still it seems best to head back now that the sun is about to set and nighttime is approaching fast. ...Is that just the leaves rustling in the wind behind you, or is it something more?

[Floor 56]: Oh this looks definitely like an useful floor - the room stretches into a hospital ward, dusty and old, a surgical suite surrounded by a maze of empty beds. The closer you look, the more you'll find that the first impression is quite deceiving - no medical supplies of any sort, unstable lights and what was that noise just now?! Clearly you are the only one on this floor. Or are you?

[Floor 25]: After all you have seen so far, this just might be the first truly innocent floor you see. But is it truly as trustworthy as it seems...? Many other people seem to think so at least! Come and see what they are up to?

[Elevators]: It's quite a long ride between the Dormitories and the Cafeteria - it probably doesn't help that the minutes and seconds seem to stretch out more and more towards eternity, what a hassle. Are well, maybe there is someone stuck with you and up to provide conversation... or entertainment~

[Anywhere]: Do you still have track of just where you are after spending your day exploring the Tower of Animus? If not, you might want to ask someone... or just start climbing the stairs regardless of where you are! Nighttime is approaching fast...

[Event]: Just earlier this day you have been called for (and/or brought in to) an unscheduled collar check-up, in which the color of your collar was changed. It takes a few hours, but soon you feel the effects of it, feel lightheaded and dizzy, feel all your power slip out of your control. Or maybe you heavy to the point of breaking down on the spot, while just none of your powers seem to work. Either way... hopefully you are at a safe place or in friendly company... That is, if either of these things exist in this tower.

Are you familiar at all with second magic?

[Diarmuid understands Karna's confusion. He had felt it himself when he had first arrived and seen it on the faces of others when he has tried to explain the nature of this place to them. While Diarmuid had disliked Kayneth's ranting lecturers, at least it had acquainted him with second magic and that had helped a lot when it came to understanding things here.]

Apparently existence is made up not only of an infinite number of worlds, but an infinite number of different versions of those worlds.

[He gives Karna a questioning look.]

Did you read the letters that would have been left in your room? The one that mentions how we were brought her because our worlds were destroyed? Every person here, whether they wear the face of someone you know or not, is from a different world no matter how similar they may seem. It seems that there are a great many worlds that have some version of the Grail War going on in them. Many are similar, but they are never exactly the same.

For instance in most versions of the 4th War including my own, I was summoned by a magus who went by the name of Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi. However, this is not always how it happens. In the version of the war my current Master is from, it was he who summoned me and not Kayneth. It seems your war is yet another different version. One where you were summoned instead of me. Tell me, does the names Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi or Waver Velvet mean anything to you?

[ .. ah. it's starting to make sense now, and a horrific sort of sense, at that. so his master is here, but he's not.. his master. it must be why he hasn't been able to sense him. after ten years, after all, their bond is extremely strong; they know one another inside and out. and for a moment, the thought of some other servant at his side makes him want to scream--

but if what this lancer says is true, then.. he has no right. the waver velvet here will not know him.

he takes a breath, mouth thinning as he offers a short, sharp nod. ]
Waver Velvet is my master's name. Lord El-Melloi the first was another Master during the war. He attempted to take control of me when Rider was defeated. Eventually, he was slain.

Oh... I...

[But he can't finish the sentence. There is a small part of him that is happy to hear how Kayneth ended in Karna's version of the war--no doubt he deserved it--and that feeling really should upset him, but it is overshadowed by Diarmuid's shock and worry.

Of course, the Tower would do this to them. After he and Waver had finally stopped hiding the fact they were Master and Servant and really started working as a team. But Diarmuid won't let him go. Not after all this. He's not...

Diarmuid presses his hand to his forehead forcing that train of thought from his head. This isn't Karna's fault and from the look on the man's face and how lost he had seemed just moments ago...

...it mirrors how Diarmuid would feel if the Tower sent Waver away. If that one terrible fear of his actually came true...

His hand drops from his face and he smiles slightly.]

This must be so hard for you. As you have probably already guessed the man who is my friend and Master here is a version of the man who was yours. If you wish, I will take you to see him. I am sure if I ever lost him...I would be just as lost as you are now.

No.

[ he regrets mentioning his master's name, regrets that it caused that flash of pain and fear on this lancer's face. he would never, never seek to stand between a servant and his master-- even if that master wears his lover's face. ]

I regret mentioning it. [ he shakes his head once, decisive. ] My master is dead. Yours is not he. I would not-- [ his chest hurts, for a moment too painful to speak. too painful to breathe. his master, his waver.. the boy, the man he'd loved, gone forever.

gloved fists clench at his sides, and he lifts his chin, expressionless and cold. it's all he can do, the only way he knows how to cope with it. ]
I believe that you will take care of him.

No, do not regret.

[Diarmuid doesn't know if the gesture will be welcome or not, but he places one of his hands over one of Karna's fisted ones hoping it will make that cold look melt away. It's a wall. A mask. And Diarmuid hates those.]

Do not give up on your beloved.

[For it is obvious that Karna's Waver means as much if not more to him as the one in the Tower means to Diarmuid.]

It has been said ever since I arrived here that there might be a way to fix the worlds and bring back all those who were lost. If you can take comfort in nothing else, take comfort in that. You will see him again. We will not give up the fight until it is done.
