Yes, those things are deadly. ]
So. You're back.
/talk about out of the frying pan....
[Sephiroth stands, in order to put himself where he should be in terms of height difference. This must be some sort of test, there is no way Cloud could be here. In a place where he's supposed to be 'saved' to. The two ideas were oxymoronic.]
"I haven't been anywhere."
/yup, although dear Cloud is post-ACC...
You were here for a short time.
[ A shrug, and he finished off the nutrition bar. There might not be that much food, but a SOLDIER had to keep up their energy. Even imposter ones like Cloud. ]
Or don't you remember?
Re: /Sephy's not quite figured out he's not stuck in a pre-lifestream dream; after ACC (:-D)
[And now she's saved him too. Why?]
[The last remains of the oatmeal is abandoned in it's bowl. Forgotten as Sephiroth decides he doesn't have the bearings, knowledge or even the need to dispose of Cloud - at least not yet. He needs to know more about this place first. And who knows, Cloud may yet be the key to all of it]
"Guess not, but I do remember you." [Sephiroth superbly controls his simmering vengeance enough to step back away from the table and turn to leave the Cafeteria]
/they'll be bff won't they? ( ;-D )
[ The oatmeal was glanced at before Cloud raised his head and watched Sephiroth. If he didn't know any better, he would say that the former General was trying to flee the area and him.
But Cloud did know him and also understood what might be bothering him. ]
She didn't save any of us. The four running this place did to use us as experiments.
[ She - the Planet - was gone and with it the Lifestream and her guardian spirits. This place was outside of it. Cloud knew this from Rusty and Sparky, and he was taking a gamble on what Sephiroth might be thinking.
He thought it himself too. ]
Just ask anyone.
Re: /that depends on your definition of bff (:-p) btw - much (<3) for you right now!
"No."
"That's insane." [How dare you. I should cut you down right now.]
[The moment he said it there were second thoughts. Sephiroth was now pumped nearly to fight-mode but his mind that had been on that letter all afternoon continued to connect the dots as he searches Cloud's body language for any sign that this is intended to wind him up. But instead of pressing any attack he finds his fingers tracing the collar just visible at the front, between the large parts of his collar on the coat. But she brought him here. To save him from the destruction. It made sense. Otherwise how could he go on to fulfill his destiny?]
"Experiments." [Eyes narrow, pupils flex. Boy how he hates being played with] "How ironic."
/fighting and sniping at each other? thank you~ so much<3 back!
Insane or not, that is what this place is. She's not here. Only those parts our bodies carry.
[ He had died here, unable to cope with the needles that had been needed to switch him back into his body. The mental breakdown from being himself and Reno is dissolved his sense of self as well. It had not been pleasant. ]<small/
Re: /yep, boy there will be sparks!
She would have understood the sacrifice. Inevitable in the end. But not for this.
[Sephiroth feels sick to the stomach enough for the consumed oatmeal to feel like lead now. The very idea to be stuck here at someone elses pleasure, to be someone elses puppet. It strikes deep chords of familiarity and the anger associated with it; though Sephiroth cannot recall much of the associated memories to do with those long-past events. Suspicious now. What reason would Cloud have to inform him of these truths? Pushing the button to send him to his doom, or is there something more -]
/funtimes!
[ From what he had heard, people talked about how the Tower's caretakers said a white light destroyed the worlds. That they managed to grab who they could from that light, well, Cloud wasn't exactly happy about the implications either. There was no reason to bring them here except for one.
They were just here for their experiments. ]
Some of your abilities are probably dampen, but... [ A risk, a gamble, but he had been thinking about those people and what others have tried to do... ] If there is anyone that can find the center of this madness, it might just be you.
[ As unpleasant the idea was. ]
Re: /ooooooooooo!
[What's more, the drawn out silence that falls over the Cafeteria seems almost manufactured - that the very walls are listening now to see what comes of this strange encounter]
Wait. You want my help? [That slow creeping smirk is dripping with something sinister]
What's the matter? Can't be the hero anymore?
/ 8'D
Cloud just wasn't getting scared.
He matched Sephiroth's gaze with the flat, bored look of someone that had just scraped some mud off of his boots. ]
Do you really think that people who can grab you and me would be easily destroyed by just one of us alone?
Re: / ...
Whatever had happened to Cloud here seems to have stripped away that sense of self that Sephiroth had only once before managed to do at a peak in his power. No, this was different. Not quite as hollow and self-defeated as a puppet-state, but as if he couldn't be bothered. Like a teenager just a little too old to be playing the same game all the time. Sephiroth takes the chance to take a single step back towards Cloud.]
Grabbed or rescued? Assuming that your information is sound, then it only opens up more questions that need answers first.
[After all, experiments created him, experiments handed him his destiny; he's not yet seen anything to make him think he's here for experimentation. Even so, if their keepers here accidentally introduce JENOVA cells to anyone else, well that could prove interesting. How inviting the idea of being able to stretch across worlds and grab whomever you choose to]

He wondered but he was not going to ask. Not right now. ]
They call it a rescue, but how can it be a rescue when we're all collared and herded about for check-ups and games? When I first got here, they took a bunch of people and put them in a maze and made them kill each other off.
[ Cloud's own collar could be seen at his throat, the blue almost matching the blue Mako glow of his eyes. ]
Everyone has one. Those without any color are a kind of servant group that might as well be spirits. Most of the floors we can get to are dangerous, and the only way we can get to the other floors is when the colorless grab you and take you there.

Check-ups and games eh? Though the latter sounds fun; something he'd excel in, people 'checking' him up in anyway shape or form without his consent and/or without being informed what it was for first was something Sephiroth would not allow. Depending on how the whole issue is approached later, when he has to go for one of these routine appointments would no doubt make his mind up one way or the other.]
What if they are to keep us safe though. [Refraining from over-touching the foreign object around his neck]
This is a new world after all, it wouldn't do us much good if the entire air in here were toxic. Does anyone know for sure?
[For now, Cloud has clearly been around here longer than he has (a first!) and so in the pursuit of catch-up Sephiroth tolerates their little exchange. Though it'd be foolish to think his mood wouldn't turn at the slightest provocation]

[ They have to knock Cloud out for those scheduled check-ups. No way would he go willingly to the clinic and stay still long enough for his collar to get drained and refilled. He just couldn't do it. ]
They say a lot of things. I wouldn't believe all of it because sometimes it seems that they might just be saying it to keep us in line.

All fun and games. This is going to be so much fun.
[Underneath the sarcasm, there is the undeniable truth that Sephiroth may indeed have either a lot to learn about the state of play in their new home or he's just being him; up for any challenge put to him]
no subject
Or at least divert his attention. ]
So you say.

Sephiroth is very much of the opinion that the humans below him are a race well-overdue an extinction event. Perhaps this place would throw into blinding obviousness to others what he already knew. Survival of the fittest species without much of humanity's chance to give itself an unfair advantage. He wasn't sure he liked that thought; of humans realizing they should be dying out, there would always be those that denied the inevitable. Such as the one stood before him, however bored he seemed.
But all of this thought train depends on which side are those who run this place. Sephiroth grunts lowly in disdain, as again he reaches the end of the track; he's not the one in control here. Without a single word of acknowledgment, Sephiroth turns and heads out of the Cafeteria - his need for answers only more intense now after that exchange]
