YEAH AND WHAT'S IT ABOUT? Lovable poseur and amnesiac know-it-all work at a detective agency together. They Fight Crime.

Or, a detective apprentice who thinks he's hot stuff and an amnesiac guy with a combination of Google and Wikipedia in his brain turn into a single superhero who fights people that turn into monsters via superpowered USB drives. They have a plucky girl sidekick that provides a fair amount of comic relief, and later pick up a rival who is essentially Batman if he took fashion advice from Kaneda in Akira. The series balances the drama and comedy fairly well - if you like the Ace Attorney game series' style of drama and comedy, this is very similar. Also, there's snappy dressing, cool hats, and a jazzy soundtrack

What's your AU's premise? Sora was kidnapped at a young age by Xehanort's Heartless/Ansem. He was raised to be blindly loyal and loving darkness. Meanwhile, Riku became the hero. Such is the price to be paid... But no, it's basically Kingdom Hearts, except much darker (AHAHAHAHA) and with lots more sadness and bad ending.

SO WHAT SHOULD I BE PLAYING FROM? Kamen Rider Den-O
YEAH AND WHAT'S IT ABOUT? If Murphy's Law was a religion, the protagonist would be a saint. The guy with the worst luck in the world gets picked to ride around in a time train and protect the timeline from a bunch of nasty monsters from the future (Imagin) that are trying to wreck the past. However, since said protagonist is absolutely terrible at fighting, he picks up a handful of these monsters that aren't working with the bad guys to help him out, via possession. WACKY HIJINKS ENSUE.

Den-O is a rather special series - it is high on the comedy, and surprisingly also high on drama, when it's called for. Unfortunately, it's not high on plot - there are a LOT of things that go unexplained. Motives for villains, how different things work, what the hell a Singularity Point is... The show also breaks its own established rules a bit later on, too. All that aside, though, it makes up for the plot issues with some absolutely wonderful characters that make it worth watching. (The Imagin steal the show by far, though.)

What's your AU's premise? Things go pear-shaped when Vanitas appears earlier than in canon and decides that he can train Ventus better than Xehanort can. One kidnapping later, a whole new chain of events unfolds that ends up sending the Kingdom Hearts universe down a different path than what would be expected, though at times it does mimic canon to a point.

Things in the AU include: Vanitas still running around the worlds, Aqua is a nobody, Eraqus surviving, Riku is a nobody, Ansem Seeker of Darkness returning after CoM, Repliku surviving, Xion Sora-facing then getting her own face, Ventus forming tight bonds with Repliku, Namine and Xion and much more.

Oh and a trip to the world of the Aristocats where people are turned into cats.

YEAH AND WHAT'S IT ABOUT? It's a story about friendships, growing up, gangsters and vampires set in the fictional city of Mallepa, China. The main story was cobbled together by a Japanese rock star who later conned his friend who happens to be a rock star to help and they some how got a former porn director to direct and a famous Hong Kong singer involved as well. There's a lot of over acting and under acting and the cast really has fun despite the fact that half of them are amateurs.

In essence it's the story of Sho who grows up and dies, and the basis of all the other songs/albums/so on of Gackt's MOON Saga.

SO WHERE CAN I GET IT? You can buy the games on Amazon.com. If you don't have the systems to play them, never fear! KH13.com has archies of all the cutscenes. Youtube is full of walkthroughs and let's plays. Manga Fox has most of the manga, but you're really missing out if you rely on manga alone.

What's your AU's premise? Antipode in a nutshell: Riku is the Keybearer. Sora is not. Shit happens, and the universe gets screwed.

But really, it's more complicated than that. The story is canon up until the night Destiny Islands falls to darkness. Sora and Riku meet with each other before Riku can give into the darkness, thus Riku ends up with the Keyblade, while Sora still has Kairi's heart inside him. However, because Riku is very different from Sora, he makes different decisions. Likewise, the Disney villains must approach Sora in a different manner, since jealousy will not work.

What happens is Sora ends up being tricked into thinking the Disney villains are really the good guys, while Riku's forced to travel with Donald and Goofy, who he can barely stand at first. At the start of his journey, he completely disregards them, meddles, and doesn't take hero work seriously. It's only through hardships that he comes to be the hero he is today.

By the end of KH1, things are radically different. Sora remains a Heartless, Kairi joins Riku, Donald, and Goofy, and the door to Kingdom Hearts remains wide open. Roxas retains all of Sora's memories until Naminé alters them. The Riku Replica is the Organization's main weapon.

Really, it's hard to sum Antipode up in brief. If you want to learn more, I have plenty of links.

However, seeing as these are really, really long fics, I don't actually expect people to dig through them unless they really want to. Instead, I have some links that provide an abridged explanation.

First, there's the Character Reference Guide. It contains explanations of the roles of various characters. I still need to add Sora's Nobody/XIII/Roxas and a few others, but I think it's an okay start.

Next, there's the timeline for Act 1. It's still a WIP, but I've completed it up to Neverland and plan to finish the rest this weekend. I also have an Act 2 Timeline. It covers the whole story, though some of the information is a bit dated. I aim to fix that up pretty quickly as well.

There's also Riku's app which provides a decent summary, though it's outdated compared to the timeline. Still, it gets the job done.


Characters you'd like to see? If somebody apped Riku Replica from this AU, I would love them forever. No, seriously. I have icons and everything. YEAH AND WHAT'S IT ABOUT? Summarizing the ENTIRETY of the plotline will keep me here all night...

Basically it's a Disney and Final Fantasy crossover with a fair bit of its own original flair thrown in. To sum it all up in a sentence? It's a battle between light and darkness and how friendship and love (of ALL KINDS, not just romantic) is literally the most powerful force in the universe.

The protagonists tend to come in groups of threes though not always (specifically in re:coded). There are journeys of adventure, self-discovery, searching for one's friends and light, hope for the future, fixing the mistakes of the past. You can expect to have a lot of emotions, be as if not more confused than the characters a lot of the time, and for the love of all that is sane and decent, keep the tissues on hand because you will see a lot of bad things happen to good people.

The battle style is fun and the music is utterly amazing.

- Said girl also dreams of her Ideal Self, who takes the party out to stop the evil corporation's goals. Which changed to becoming nihilistic.
- Alternatively, you can grind in three Towers at school to stop the Snow Queen.
- Oh, and a spirit guide gives the teenagers the power of Persona to do this.
- Because the spirit guide has a bet going on with the Crawling Chaos to see if humans will destroy themselves or achieve enlightenment.

YEAH AND WHAT'S IT ABOUT? Maya undoes all of Tatsuya's mistakes. Basically, the game exists so that everyone who felt cheated by Innocent Sin's ending finally get the conclusion they were looking for. OH, AND YOU GET AN ADULT PARTY. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW AWESOME THAT IS.

There's an enhanced PSP port released recently in Japan, but Atlus hasn't announced it to be localized yet. Perhaps when P4 Arena and P4 Golden have been released and wound down.

High school students play Persona game and save the world from an evil cooperation who are using a kid in the hospital as a way to test a machine that makes alternate realities causing said Child to have different personalities split off from her and be given life. Then a guy named Takahisa Kandori goes into that world and gets the powers to become a GOD and TAKE OVER THE WORLD™ except he fails and then one part of the girl becomes Pandora who wants to destroy all of reality. You end up fighting her and THE WORLD IS SAVED!!! There's a giant tower.

Oh did I mention everyone has a weapon and a GUNS?!

The Mangaka who made it wanted people to like it so much that they bought the game, and it shows. The art is great and the depths she adds to each character just fleshes them out even more. Actually I would suggest reading the manga first before even playing the game.

Fits most Persona games and is pretty awesome. Persona is a hell of a drug.

I can provide you with artwork, images, background information about the characters and everything you need. Considering that Persona 1's plot is a bit more standard than the later ones, with the playthrought and a text you can get as much information from it as playing the game yourself. KEI NANJO Is the asshole of a group of asshole. He is Bruce Wayne with less Batman and more sass. His ultimate Persona is his dead butler on a surfboard if that isn't metal enough for you, I don't know what is.

Maki Sonomura is said character who was experimented on by SEBEC. You play most of the game with her Dream! Perfect Self. She's sweet kind, nice and has some issues considering you're inside her world and there's different versions of her running around. Oh, and she has a crush on Naoya.

Masao "Mark" Inaba is a punk, graffiti artist who argues a lot with Brown. He's kind-hearted but is very short tempted and tends to run in first. Also he has a crush on Maki.

Hidehiko "Brown" Uesugi is the most hilarious thing out of this game. If you thought Eikichi was bad, Brown is pretty much ten times worse. He thinks he is the shit, and he even lies on canon game information saying he is 57 feet tall and 550 kilos (not even lying that's what it says in his official game profile along with a note "according to him!") He is awesome and hilarious.

Yuka Ayase is the pretty girl of the group who speaks like a valley girl and is pretty much sass meets teen sweet valley high. She's also easy to anger and speaks in 3rd person in the manga.

Reiji Kido is the tall strong muscle guy of the group who doesn't talk much but THREATENS TO BREAK OF DEMON'S FINGERS because he's just that badass. His arcana is DEVIL and DEATH. He is pretty much hardcore and has a nice streak about him, if you know more of his story life (like the fact Kandori is his half-brother and he got that scar protecting his mom from their mutual dad). Do you think he uses weapons no he punches everytihng WITH HIS FISTS and if that doesn't work he's got a SUBMACHINE GUN.

Yukino Mayuzumi is the final badass addition to the group. She is a reformed yanki which is basically female japanese school gangs. She uses razor blades as her weapons. She's the most down-to-earth girl of the group, but she's willing to get down and dirty when the time comes to it. She's very masculine-like in her mannerisms too.

What's your AU's premise? So Terra wasn't as out of the picture as Xehanort had thought he would be when he pulled a Grand Theft Me, and he, not Xehanort, wound up locking the both of them away when Aqua came to kick Terranort's ass. This leads to Terra having more influence on the amnesia-struck young man that became Ansem the Wise's apprentice, which in turn leads to lots of small, but important changes in how the events of the next ten years unfold, such as:

-Braig becoming a driving force in the progressive downhill escalation of the experiments, all in an attempt to squash what was left of Terra and bring Xehanort out.
-The creation of the original six members of Organization XIII going drastically different.
-Xemnas's motivations changing almost entirely.

SO WHAT SHOULD I BE PLAYING FROM? Slayers
YEAH AND WHAT'S IT ABOUT? A jerkass sorceress that follows her own whimsy and greed with a destructive temper. A moronic swordsman with the intellect of jellyfish. A one-part human, one-part demon, and one part golem chimera with enough angst to make Batman blink. A sheltered princess-cleric that idolizes a black and white view of justice. These shmucks keep getting entrusted with saving the world on a regular basis, often backed up by some equally odd friends that come and go.

The series is high fantasy, high comedy, and high drama - think of it as an animated Dungeons & Dragons campaign, where the players can't take much seriously until the Dungeon Master smacks them with a terrible, world-threatening plotline after he's had enough of their shenanigans, and there's your season formula.
I NEED A VISUAL REFERENCE! Have a crap load of opening sequences.
SO WHERE CAN I GET IT? There's four series: Slayers, Slayers NEXT, Slayers TRY, and Slayers REVOLUTION/EVOLUTION-R with 26 episodes each (The fourth is split into two 13-episode parts), and a number of movies. The series are available on YouTube and Hulu in both dub and sub form, but you gotta hunt down DVDs of the movies. There's a lot of animation difference between the series - first has a lot of QUALITY moments, things get better for NEXT and TRY, but still look rather retro. REVOLUTION/EVOLUTION-R look more modern and shiny.
ANYTHING ELSE? Gourry and Amelia would be so wonderful to round out the main four, but I'm open to anyone from the series showing up.

YEAH AND WHAT'S IT ABOUT? The child of both X-Men and Batmen TV series put into anime form. It's basically about an assassin known as Hei, known to others as the infamous Black Reaper. His goal is to fulfill his missions for the Syndicate in order to learn more about his sister's whereabouts. And as time goes on, his own morality is questioned.

Protip: don't watch season 2.

SO WHERE CAN I GET IT? Episodes can be found if you try and search via google. Otherwise, DVD's, but the former option is what I use; I lucked out with Comcast having it On Demand, but it's gone now.

ANYTHING ELSE? I'd like to see anyone and everyone from DTB here! Really, I would actually like to see another Hei, maybe even in kid form just to freak out my Hei.

What's your AU's premise? To sum up, my Hei is a clone of the original Hei, and was only recently dealt the news and trying to deal with it. It seems like he accepts it, and he does, but it's a tiny bit of a tricky subject. Nonetheless, he is too worried about those he called friends.

Speaking of friends, he has those...and tends to lost them. His other little sister sort of, Kirika? Dead. Women he could respect, Raven and Minako? Gone; the Minako here isn't the same one. And after all of that, he at least has a loving girlfriend Lucy (loving to him anyway) that he could--wait no, she is gone too, and replaced with a Lucy he ended up breaking her brain.

Yep, his life is a living hell and depression, but he still tries to go on, somehow. He should get a bit better after the dream event, less some people decide to interfere in a negative way.

He also has some new weapons, like two additional sharp knives, and a staff that can separate into dual swords, courtesy of the ever awesome Eddie Riggs of a_facility.

SO WHAT SHOULD I BE PLAYING FROM? Buffy the Vampire Slayer
YEAH AND WHAT'S IT ABOUT? The one girl in all the world with the power to defeat vampires, demons, and forces of darkness in general battles the supernatural with her gang of misfit friends and a tongue as sharp as her stakes! Notable for being a show that requires you to know the plural of "apocalypse".
I NEED A VISUAL REFERENCE! Look at this beautiful band of badasses. Look at them. You know what that scene's from? That scene is from where they'd just finished outrunning a town turning into a sinkhole.
SO WHERE CAN I GET IT? Netflix Instant Watch has the entire series, as does Hulu! Otherwise, DVDs are reasonably cheap, since it's an oldish show, and there are novelizations of specific episodes available as well as standalone books. Not to mention the sidestory comics, which are collected in seven miscellaneous omnibi even if you disregard the existence of Season 8.

-Dawn (probably Tara's closest relationship besides Willow)
-Buffy (the Slayer, Tara left her at a pretty tumultuous time in her life and is feeling pretty guilty about not being able to be there or be better for Buffy)
-Giles (Tara left him unconscious and critically injured in the street - I want to play out the fallout, dammit!)
-Andrew (that knife she always carries? Yeah, she tried to use it to ritually sacrifice him)
-Oz (Willow's other ex, also a werewolf who plays a mean electric guitar)

Playing from an AU? Here's some additional stuff!

What's your AU's premise? All right - so, "Seeing Red". At the end of this episode, a crazed misogynist techno-scientist that has been serving as the Big Bad for the entire season gets such a righteous ass-kicking by Buffy, one that gets his two minions thrown in jail, and he finally loses his shit and comes to her house with a gun. One of the bullets he fires ricochets, goes through a top window of Buffy's house, and in doing so kills Tara dead on the spot.

My AU starts with the premise of "What if it hit Willow instead?" I will link to Tara's app for a description of the AU as far as I've gotten. I haven't written any further, mostly because I'm not sure the world would actually be saved or Sunnydale would still be destroyed in this AU, and if it's not, that's a whole massive other kettle of fish for me to parse out.

But! The chief differences in the main characters are as follow:
1. Willow - no appearances beyond "Seeing Red"
2. Buffy - did not have the epiphany that came from defending Dawn from a bunch of demons in a pit. Dawn herself was responsible for dragging Buffy out of her post-death depression, over a much longer period of time.
3. Xander - his best friend in the entire world died suddenly and apparently pointlessly
4. Anya - there is literally nothing worse she can do to Xander than what the universe at large did
5. Andrew - let out on parole in the intervening weeks, Jonathon is still alive, a regular guest at the Summers' household to keep Dawn company. Overall quite well accepted into the group already. Same is basically true for Jonathon.
6. Giles - stayed and convalesced in Sunnydale after getting curbstomped, and was there to help Dawn drag Buffy back towards normality and mental health. Afterwards, he left on his hunting for the Potentials.
7. Dawn - De facto leader of the Scoobies, a role she took on while Buffy was in her depression. You'd be hard pressed to look at her and see a younger sister at this point.

Characters you'd like to see? See the list above, but:
Tara view Andrew and Giles in particular a lot differently in this AU - she's taken from about ten minutes after she tried to murder Andrew, whereas in the Buffyverse OU I think they literally had no conversations.

It's much the same for Giles - Tara wasn't the sort of person he noticed much, or had much time for, but they wound up in a knock-down, drag out magic fight where Tara came out on top. She'll never admit it, but being able to best him was a pretty serious self confidence boost, even if it was borrowed power she was using at the time.

Anything else? If you'd ever like a list of episodes I would avoid at all costs, please feel free to PM me. Most of them are in Season 6 after "Once More with Feeling", so you won't be missing much.

There are some truly heartbreaking, phenomenally done, beautifully written episodes, and I'd also be happy to provide a list of the highlights.

Comics and novels are pretty non-problematic, though, with the exception of the ongoing S9, which I consider to be moronic.

If you start from S1, I hope you have a really good suspension of disbelief, because their SFX budget was pretty nonexistent at the start.
