Support Group Meme!



"In a support group, members provide each other with various types of help, usually nonprofessional and nonmaterial, for a particular shared, usually burdensome, characteristic. The help may take the form of providing and evaluating relevant information, relating personal experiences, listening to and accepting others' experiences, providing sympathetic understanding and establishing social networks. A support group may also work to inform the public or engage in advocacy."

And now you know. And knowing is half the battle.

Post with a character.

Unlike most memes, you'd probably be better off by providing a general theme for people to respond to. You know, have your subject or post read "People who got turned into animals in their respective games" or "Time travelers and keeping the space/time continuum intact."

Respond to other people and support them through their trials and tribulations.

NOTE: While you're welcome to post whatever the hell you want, if you delve into triggery whatnot (i.e. abuse, suicide, things which tend to actually evoke real life support groups and therapy) please label your posts with a nice and blatant warning so someone who was looking for Time Travelers Anonymous doesn't accidentally stumble into your suicide thread instead.

It's not...

[Not quite that simple. It's not really a case of making the choice solely for the benefits. It's between making a choice between what hurts only her, and the choice that hurts everyone but her.]

It feels like I have to take the choice between saving myself, or saving everyone I care about.

[It could easily seem like she's only talking about the Tower. But... in truth, she's talking about home too.]

Even if I've changed... I'm not sure I'd make a different choice.

And that isn't an easy choice. Ever.

[Diarmuid nods in acknowledgment as he listens. He should have known, even with how little he knows about her actual past, that things aren't that simple.]

It's all grey, not black and white. Even after all this time, I still struggle with that...

[He falls quiet for a moment, not sure how to phrase what he is thinking. Finally, he just takes a deep breath and asks.]

Even though we have known each other for a little while now, I still don't know much about you and your world...

[He thinks back to the conversation they had back when he was powerless and how he had upset her so badly without knowing exactly why.]

Instead of me trying to guess why you feel that way, would you mind telling me or are you still trying to work out why you would make the same choice yourself?

[Xion hesitates, her shoulders rising up ever so slightly as she considers whether she feels ready to answer or not. She could take the easy way out, simply say it's how she views the decision to go home or not, which was true. But it also wasn't the whole truth. It's maybe half a minute or so before she makes her decision.]

Because... I was making that choice back home. There's... people I care about. I... I was made for a purpose, and because of that... I was hurting them both, just by existing. [And Axel and Riku, and to some extent the whole world too, by extension] There wasn't really anything I could do about it. The only way I could stop it... was to go away.

And when I go away... everyone will forget me.

[And not in a "nobody will care" type way either. They will literally forget]

[Diarmuid's eyes grow wide and his arm tightens around her unconsciously as if somehow it might shield her from that terrible fate. No wonder she had reacted so badly. All he had been seeing was the possibility of her emotions being out of control when in reality that didn't matter because at least for once she was acting in a way that she wanted to and for her own reasons...]

I'm sorry...

[Sorry for the fate she is facing, sorry for his words that day, sorry...for a lot of things, though the words are really not anywhere near enough.]

No one should be forgotten, but especially not someone like you...

[She looks up at him. Those words are powerful in their own right. The idea of not being forgotten is a powerful thing for Xion. And yet, even as she stares at him sadly, there's still a note of confusion and uncomprehension.]

Why's that?

[Why her, of all people? Especially after the mistakes she's made and the problems she's caused.]

[For a moment, he doesn't answer, surprised at her question. And yet, somehow the sad look in her eyes seems familiar...]

People make mistakes in their lives. Some give up and lose themselves to their mistakes. Others keep fighting and are willing to give up everything they are to make sure that those mistakes are corrected. Those are the purest and kindest souls in the world and those are the ones who should never be forgotten.

I may not know everything that has happened to you since you came here, but I do know you are a fighter. A kind soul who wants those she cares about to be safe. You want to do the right thing even if it is also painful, and you aren't afraid to give up everything to make sure those things you want done are done. You might be scared sometimes or unsure, but that doesn't stop you from taking action when the time comes.

Why shouldn't you be remembered? Making mistakes doesn't invalidate who you are. In fact, it is just one more sign of how deserving of a life of your own you are...
