A Diarmuid! Gasp!

I think the envy/jealousy card is an excellent card to be playing, regarding him and Cecil. Kain would want very much to befriend Diarmuid, but it seems very likely that he's going to make stupid choices that will get in the way of that. Maybe not right off the bat, though. Not until he manages to stumble upon some obvious flirtation/affection/something between Diarmuid and Cecil?

I would like to have them both spar and work on lance repairs. After event stuff, perhaps? :D

A common understanding would definitely work, especially if Sephiroth is firmly against the idea of being Ganon's lapdog. While she would never outright state that she is going to be working against him for fear of it getting back to him, having people that she can be reasonably certain won't backstab her would be something she'd like!

All of that sounds good to me! I'm working on my player plot wrap up and I'm hoping that will be all done around the time the tower event is over. So many something at the end of the month?

Ocelot isn't anything like Madoka's mother, but she definitely has a motherly part to her mixed in with the brutal soldier.

Granny and Sephiroth need to continue to have mentor-like CR and spar.

I'd love to start building up some vaguely Zero CR with Ganondorf. Ocelot, for her part, would remain on the outside as much of an ally as she presented herself initially. Which, admittedly, isn't much of one.

There's nothing I'd like to see more than two extremely powerful beings going at it. Despite being a Castlevania vampire, Alucard is very much on the side of good and protecting people and I can see that ruffling feathers on both sides.

Ocelot would never outright give away Ganon's plans out of self interest, but she's started to think that she's working with an idiot. She's not outright evil. A bit leaning more towards the dark than the light in terms of gray morality, but evil no. Helping Zelda out by indirectly making Ganon's life miserable might be interesting.

He'd probably also get along with Alucard who while a bit on the verbose side when he talks is generally silent. He's also extremely tall too and they can probably have lineface competitions.

Besides, no chance of backstabbing without a very good reason here. That is unless if becomes necessary for what he would see as his own superior position later on, but I'm sure she's the same?

Yup, she's the same.

Generally she's only 100% loyal to two very specific people (neither of which are in the game), but she'd expect any allies she'd make to be the same or even just out for themselves.

Grumpy and rude is quite fine! Kain can have rough edges of his own. I think he'd find Thorin interesting, if just in a "so what is this kind of dwarf like" sense.
