2. Sometimes if Lancer squints, he can see the shadow of someone else in his roommate. Sometimes it was his friend Ferdiad, that gentle, sweet older brother who bandaged his wounds and kept him out of trouble. A cheerful person who nevertheless blamed himself for things out of his control. Sometimes, it's Naoise, the cousin who he never got to know. All he remember is sitting on those great knees or standing in his long shadow. The two of them had both seemed so big when compared to Cu Chulainn, but now, when he looks at Diarmuid, Cu Chulainn is definitely the taller one. He wonders if it'll be the same looking at the people from his paste. Maybe he really has grown up.
3. He has a dream once. A beautiful dream. Misaya summoned Diarmuid to be her Lancer. And everything turns out perfectly. They're an unstoppable lady and knight combo only found in storybooks. In the end, they defeat all the other Servants. Diarmuid reclaims his honor by giving Misaya the Grail. The Grail saves Misaya's life. She grow up, falls in love, gets married, lives and happy life. And Diarmuid leaves the world smiling, his tragic wish fulfilled. When he wakes up his cheeks are wet, and he never tells anyone why.
4. Lancer is a selfish man. He can admit that. He'd rather everyone stay in the Tower. That Ayaka stays safe and Diarmuid stays alive. He won't let anyone dump them back into their worlds--worlds where one's fate is unsure and the other only has death awaiting him.
5. He's still not sure what this Master business entails, even as he's used it to get Diarmuid to listen to him a couple of times. He'd like to think he's good at taking care of Diarmuid, but he's not so sure on his ability to give orders or to plan. He has to wonder what would happen if a Grail War did break out in the Tower. Maybe he would have Diarmuid make an actual contract with him. In exchange for his prana, he could keep Diarmuid on his side. They would have no need to cross spears with each other.
...Of course, that's just a last resort.
