I have to say, that's more than a bit of a relief. Lancer is definitely feeling the family thing but he wasn't sure how Kariya was going to react when all was said and done. Hence the kind of tentative family heart in his post.

He was more than a little worried the man wouldn't want to see him again...

Well, Kariya is more than a little mortified by his very telling delusion, but he would certainly want to see Diarmuid again so he doesn't need to worry. Kariya's very fond of him. Diarmuid was kind to him, and he's very fond of him. Kindness is something he doesn't get a lot of, back home.

It was also nice to have a Servant who was looking out for him and not pulling him to pieces.

Yeah, but Diarmuid is going to feel horrible for lying about everything for so long. He'll think that should make Kariya hate him even if he did it to help him.

I should have him come and do some kind of formal apology/ask for some kind of punishment from Kariya for what he did. Otherwise, he's just going to stew. Kariya can handle that however he wants, of course. I know he won't take advantage of him.

At least it was a nice lie? Kariya's used to his family's more awful lies. He's not thrilled, but he's more worried about what people will think of him, since he never ever tells people about his wish for a very particular wife and family. And of course, he feels bad that he forgot his quest to save Sakura. He feels like he failed her. That's mainly the reason he'd be upset about the lying.

I'd be glad to do something with Lancer and Kariya post-event. I don't know what Kariya will think up as a punishment, though. He certainly wouldn't take advantage.

True, it's really a matter of perspective. Kariya might not mind because of how he has been treated, for a knight like Lancer, ANY lie no matter how kind isn't right. That's why he was (and still is) having so much conflict. The knight says one thing, but the man says another.

The punishment wouldn't have to really even be one. He's just going to want to do something to make up for his perceived failings.
