[Rei can tell just from Nanako's face that the child is worried. She can't tell her an obvious lie, but she's not sure how she can get the truth out either.]

Nanako-chan, my body is special. I don't know if any doctors here can do anything.

They can't try...?

[She was grasping at straws and she knew it, but she didn't want to see anyone die or transform, or anything like that...]

[terreifying]

[She shakes her head.]

There might not be enough time.

[justiceinheaven]

[Nanako let out a worried noise; what was she supposed to do like this...!?]

[terreifying]

Don't worry. You ever heard the phrase "heroes don't stay dead and neither do Reis"?

[justiceinheaven]

N...no...?

[terreifying]

Well, you've heard it now. People like us...

[She coughs several times, wincing in pain. Red eyes start opening up in her right arm as it elongates.]

People like us, we don't die. Not permanently. We'll always be back. Somehow.

[justiceinheaven]

[...oh damn, were those...? Nanako took a nervous step backward, trying to focus on Rei's face. She gave a nod in understanding.]

...you're coming back. You've promised.

[terreifying]

I promise.

[Another pair of eyes opens on her forehead. At the same time, her limbs begin elongating and becoming even paler than they were before.]

[justiceinheaven]

[Alright, that is... pretty much her limit there. She cast one last uncertain look back at Rei, before running off.]

[terreifying]

[She's gone. Well, better finish this off before it gets any worse. Rei's hand reaches up and she winces in pain as she grasps her own core. With a strong yank, it comes out of her chest. She tightens her hand around it, squeezing it until it finally splinters into little shards that rain down on her face and body. At that moment, her body jerks, then relaxes. Her eyes close and her hand calls down to the ground. She's dead. At least for the time being.]
