There are multiple reasons. One, simple curiosity. I am curious what you thought of Nietzsche's work. I had thought you would catch upon the parallels found in Thus Spoke Zarahustra and the terminology I have used, and despite being a 'book girl,' you have never commented upon it. Two, to show you that your interest in me is mutual. And three, to elicit this reaction. It is best to get this out of the way now, rather than in the future.
[ Wilhelm takes a sip of his wine, but does not break his gaze from Tohko's face. ]
I care nothing for this world. And in my own world, you would have likely held no role in the eternal recurrence.

[Tohko sighed, trying to calm down.] I did say that I wasn't much of a philosopher. I'm not one to constantly drink, so I don't eat much Nietzsche. I eat a bit of him once, maybe twice every year, and that's about it. I mainly stick with actual stories when I eat. Breakfast of Champions, The Snow Goose, Roman Candle, Run, Melos!, and The Golden Key, for example.
While it's interesting that our curiosity is mutual, you didn't have to do this. I was pretty sure that you would find out eventually..but you didn't have to shock me like this and get this reaction.
[After all, that was the first 'dare' she had chosen in a good long while. She hadn't expected this to come out of it.]
..I didn't think I would have had a role. That doesn't surprise me. However, now that I am aware of the Eternal Recurrence, that doesn't mean that I won't think of alternatives. After all, sometimes characters get the better of their authors.

[ If it were within his characteristics, he's have sighed at that. ]
As I have said, Tohko; it was best we deal with this now. I have learned this myself.
[ He shook his head at that. ]
I have already confessed that the eternal recurrence was a temporary solution. While the lower domain of the universe is affected by it, the upper domain is not. U-DO cannot be affected by Zarathustra.

[Tohko sighed at that second part.]
..Then promise me this: That you won't tell anyone about my true tastes and that you won't use them in any of your schemes.
[She knew that he probably wouldn't promise that, and if he did, he might just break that promise. However, it would be some comfort. Some security.]
..Then isn't there anything U-DO can do to help out the Lower Universe? Other than the failsafe?
no subject
[ Wilhelm shook his head at that next part. ]
U-DO is part of the problem, Tohko.
no subject
May I ask why? After all..when I eat things, I just taste how they are and I'm able to compare them to other foods using my imagination and my taste buds.
[Tohko then nodded, thinking.]
I see..then if U-DO is part of the problem, how can we make it part of the solution?
no subject
[ He shook his head. ]
U-DO exists in the Upper Domain as a single entity, while the collective subconscious is an amalgamation of multiple wills. U-DO is, frankly, lonely, and looks upon the lower domain out of curiosity. Unfortunately, this has adverse effects on all of us. It is simply too powerful to come into our domain at will.

[Tohko then sighed, thinking.]
I'd suggest sending people up to U-DO then, but you've already told me that normal people who interact with it can't handle it and break down. Could we send a robot or something that won't break down to U-DO? Maybe then it won't be lonely, and it'll stop looking at the Lower Domain.

[ He shook his head before she even finished the first sentence of her suggestion. ]
Before I bestowed the purpose of the eternal recurrence upon Zarathustra, it as originally used to ascend to the realm of God. U-DO became angry, and as a result, Anima grew ever closer to activating.

..I see. Thank you.
[She then paused and thought as he said that. Zarathustra? Was this a world that ran on Nietzsche? If so, she was probably way over her head. However, she'd just have to try and get to the surface again. Build up some alcohol tolerance.]
First, what is Zarathustra, and why does it share the name of the main character in Nietzsche's last work? Second, why did you do that if it was just going to make everything worse?
And finally, how does that stop us from sending companions over to U-DO?
no subject
I didn't use Zarathustra for that. Rather, it was Mary and Yeshua. When they inevitably failed, I co-opted Zarathustra for my own purposes.
Because U-DO is, first and foremost, afraid of humans.

I see..well then, I believe it's my turn.
Truth or dare, Wilhelm?

[ And yes, he's dead serious. ]

You have to help me with making Christmas presents this year. If new people turn up that deserve gifts, you will also help me with them. I admit, there are a few names on that list that have been omitted..but only because you don't have to deal with them. I'll be talking care of them myself. However, if a name appears on that list, you'll have to help me with it. Do you understand?
no subject
[ She... wants him to pick out gifts? Wilhelm stares at her for a moment, before closing his eyes. ]
If you insist.
no subject
Yes, that's all. Thank you. I know that it seems small in comparison to what you did with your dare, but this will really help me out a lot. Besides..I'll be working too. There are some gifts that I have to make by myself.
..I guess that means it's your turn then.

Truth or dare?
no subject
Truth.
[Not that she was going to pick dare after that.]
