Kankuro's last sight of Sasuke wasn't exactly the type to inspire him to be friendly now, but on the other hand, better to keep an eye on him, just in case -- and as he looks for more than a moment, he sees there's something a little different about this one. Different enough that he's willing to strike up a chat.]

[Sasuke finishes his glance over the pages he has open - just a second or two - before looking up. The voice is familiar to him, as is the level of snark.]

Kankuro.

[A beat, and then a half-smirking smile quirks on one side of his lips.] A way out. Not that I doubt those before me have made a go at it... but, [here he taps one fingertip at the corner of his activated Sharingan] fresh eyes couldn't hurt.

[Pretty friendly greeting for someone who was trying to be an assassin -- and kind of failing -- last time Kankuro saw him.

That said, it's also a good cue that he perhaps shouldn't get into all that mess. Sasuke won't be the first one to be entirely ignorant of the shit Kankuro remembers him pulling.]

[Sasuke actually laughs at that. An honest laugh, amused, unguarded. Kankuro isn't the first to make a smartassed remark about his Sharingan, but he's the first in a while.]

Not exactly. [He turns another page, glances over the new spread, and then looks back to the other. The tomoe spin once.] My eyes can remember whole books for days. Don't really have to read them, either. [Another page, another glance.] Like I said. Couldn't hurt.

[Not like he knows how getting the Sharingan works. And the more he looks at Sasuke, the more he sees things that are really, really different. Like that Leaf flak vest, for one. And the body language. And the lack of apparent insanity.]

[Pretty open -- oddly open, for the renegade that Kankuro remembers. The puppeteer's mind is still ticking over possibilities and probabilities, but the one lesson he learned in the Facility holds strong: don't be the one to start hostilities. If the other guy is chill, stay chill yourself.
