Situation 1: Floor 19: Library
[Sasuke doesn't believe this "end of worlds" business for a moment. It was a little disturbing on arrival to hear, but with all he's seen... no. It's not possible.]

[And so, even with large sections missing - all the important things missing - here he sits, irises blazing unnaturally red, glancing through book after book at such a speed one might wonder how much he's actually taking in. When he speaks, it's in a mutter, most likely to himself.]

There must be something in here they didn't erase...


Situation 2: Floor 37: Black
[Anyone passing will find Sasuke stock-still on the staircase, staring out into the infinite black. His irises are fire-red, and there is a scowl upon his face. This isn't right. He should be able to see. He stands in absolute stillness, absolute silence, listening. Watching. He's very close to Floor 38, close enough that anyone approaching will just see him in the light from above. He draws his sword from the back of his belt, extending it out into the black beyond the stairs.]


Situation 3: Floor 1: Cafeteria
[Despite the hour meaning that food is laid out, prepared, readily available, Sasuke isn't touching it. He's busying himself instead with the stove: a pot of rice bubbles away on a back burner, while a bit of green onion simmers quietly in oil over low heat. An assortment of other vegetables sits about the counter in a variety of prepared states. He's not wearing his flak jacket at the moment; it sits draped over a chair he's pulled nearby. His eyes are on his work, and his guard is low, but he is still holding a knife, and his sword remains tucked through the back of his belt even here.]

Kankuro's last sight of Sasuke wasn't exactly the type to inspire him to be friendly now, but on the other hand, better to keep an eye on him, just in case -- and as he looks for more than a moment, he sees there's something a little different about this one. Different enough that he's willing to strike up a chat.]

[Sasuke finishes his glance over the pages he has open - just a second or two - before looking up. The voice is familiar to him, as is the level of snark.]

[A beat, and then a half-smirking smile quirks on one side of his lips.] A way out. Not that I doubt those before me have made a go at it... but, [here he taps one fingertip at the corner of his activated Sharingan] fresh eyes couldn't hurt.

[Pretty friendly greeting for someone who was trying to be an assassin -- and kind of failing -- last time Kankuro saw him.

That said, it's also a good cue that he perhaps shouldn't get into all that mess. Sasuke won't be the first one to be entirely ignorant of the shit Kankuro remembers him pulling.]

[Sasuke actually laughs at that. An honest laugh, amused, unguarded. Kankuro isn't the first to make a smartassed remark about his Sharingan, but he's the first in a while.]

Not exactly. [He turns another page, glances over the new spread, and then looks back to the other. The tomoe spin once.] My eyes can remember whole books for days. Don't really have to read them, either. [Another page, another glance.] Like I said. Couldn't hurt.

[Not like he knows how getting the Sharingan works. And the more he looks at Sasuke, the more he sees things that are really, really different. Like that Leaf flak vest, for one. And the body language. And the lack of apparent insanity.]
