Their words are lies. While the universe is beyond conventional repair, it would not simply fall apart so easily. It is resilient even in its distress. There are matters here that are being hidden, and while having you here to assist is pleasing, having both of us here means that there is no one to attend to other, important details.

You look older. Perhaps you're from the future. There seem to be a few such... eager to pin crimes on me that I haven't even committed yet! [there's a grin ohhhh his rap sheet to be]

[ The future and the past. It's a strange thing, especially since, of all people, it's Master Xehanort who should be the most informed. He's not sure if he likes this discrepancy or the fact that both of them have been pulled from their respective points in time.

The mention of the others makes his eye narrow slightly, a measure of sharpness to his look. Of course, if he's been drawn here, it only makes sense that others would be too.

He gestures, a casualness to it that belies the attentiveness of his stare. ]

[The merest sign of displeasure creases his brow.] The ones to be expected. Aqua. Ventus. Some others whom I've yet to meet, I'm sure... Riku. A young man who goes by the sobriquet "Ansem" who I'm more than certain is simply an older version of Riku. Sora...

He frowns, just a little, wondering if he heard right. ]

It seems as well as time displacement, there is also alternative reality. Branching paths based on different outcomes at pivotal moments. There are a few such examples of this that I've encountered.

[He turns his back, pacing slightly. Clearly this is a subject that annoys him.] Were it so simple a matter. Already Aqua has been gathering them in an attempt to fill their heads with the staid light she's surrounded in. Her poisonous words have given many a false impression of me.

[Then he brings his hands up dismissively.] Repairing the damage done will take time that I may not have.

Some of them have given curious hints that I am still deciphering. Some of what they have said seems rather outlandish... [a scoff. he's still not convinced about that heartless thing.] Others simply hold fast to the notion that I am some almighty bringer of ruin! [and a chuckle. now that's amusing.]

[ He watches the old man pace, an almost uncharacteristic thoughtfulness turning the line of his mouth. Alternate timelines is a new one, he has to admit, but it's not as hard to accept as it could be.

As for the rest of it...well. One can't really hope to build something new without tearing down the old, can one?

He's not exactly sure how much the old man has been told about the future either so he'll err on the side of caution for now. ]

You'd be surprised, old man. A lot of worlds have fallen in the last ten years.

[ He says it like the fact it is, without much inflection. Whatever ties he might have had to his former home were severed years ago. ]

[There's one of those nasty grins.] So it seems that the light could not hold back the darkness any longer. Perhaps they'll learn the lesson for clinging to such foolish notions, as the universe tears itself apart in an attempt to self-medicate its imbalance!

... of course, the recipe for the balm it so truly needs should soon be within my grasp once more... provided that these pieces fall into place without too much outside assistance.
