[ That's when Doc hears a familiar voice... Could it be? ]

Great Scott...!

[ If that was him, it would confirm his greatest fears! He goes to the boy of course. ]

Marty!! Is that really you?

Doc!! [Well at least he recognizes him.]

It's really me` but uh... what's going on? Is this the future or... [he makes one of his usual Marty-gestures at the Tower.] where the hell are we?

[Confused Marty is confused.]

[doc_brown]

No, it's not the future.

[ He shakes his head and makes some dramatic gesture with his arms. ]

But it isn't the past or the present either!

[ He grabs Marty's shoulders. He looks... serious, very serious. Welcome to a new level of confusion, Marty. Get an aspirin ready. ]

I'm glad to see you here Marty, but you've confirmed my greatest fear about this tower i'm afraid!

What? What? [The Doc looking so serious made him nervous. It was bringing back memories of the Doc just before he was shot down by those Libyans.] Tell me, Doc, what about the tower?

[doc_brown]

It's all about the Delorean, Marty!

[ His holds on your shoulder tightens because, Great Scott! That's terrible! ]

When we traveled in time, we caused minor paradoxes. We fixed the major ones and I assumed the space-time continuum would compensate for the minor ones, but that's not what happened! There was no failsafe to compensate with our incessant interactions. Marty, do you understand?

[ Ok, giving you some space now and letting go of your shoulder. Now's time for the serious shit. ]

All those little inconsistencies in the timeline caused a chain-reaction, invisible to our eyes but very much real! They progressively unraveled the very fabric of the space-time continuum! This was a worst case scenario and I thought it would be localized to our Galaxy, but not at all. The collapse of the space-time continuum took our entire universe along, causing its destruction, hence the tower!

[Marty was used to the Doc's technobabble by now, but what he got from it-]

So, let me get this straight, Doc- you're saying time travel destroyed the universe?

Exactly Marty! You've read the letter, didn't you? They say our universe was destroyed and they saved us! You and I being here can only mean we were the source of the destruction, through the alteration of the space-time continuum!

[ Now to live with the guilt, Marty! Well, Doc is already over it apparently. It's not like... If there's a lot they can do about it right now. ]

Now remains the question: what is this tower. Is it a product of the destroyed universes? Is it afterlife? Is it a pocket dimension existing in the multiverse that aspired us when our universe died? Are we given a chance to save our universe?

[ OR- ]

Or maybe this is where all life started from!

Whoa whoa whoa, Doc, I'm still working on destroyed the universe part.

[doc_brown]

Marty, there is nothing we can do about it now! We are stuck in the tower, and even if we could travel back in time, this wouldn't solve the problem since time travel is the problem. Further disruptance to the space-time continuum would only risk to have the structure of the Omniverse itself be altered. Especially if we were to do it from this tower!

[ He shakes his head and puts back his hands on his shoulders. ]

I know it's hard to accept Marty, but the best we have to do is focus on the tower. Maybe there are answers that could even help up fix our mistakes!

[deloreandriver]

[Marty is holding his forehead with both hands now.]

Oh, no, no, no, Doc, say it ain't so. I-... I... Oh, man Doc.

[He's panicking a little now, the gravity sinking in. Swallowing, he squeaks a little and covering his face all sweaty.]

This is my fault, I shouldn't've ever gone to 1955... or 1885... or 2015... Doc, I destroyed the universe.

[His parents, his siblings, Jennifer, his guitar. All gone! He saved up all summer for that guitar.]

I th-think I need to sit down, Doc.

[doc_brown]

[ The universe is gone and your main worry is that you saved up all summer for your guitar? WHAT MADNESS IS THIS.

Doc winces as he tries to think to the situation, then hears Marty speaking on how it's his fault. He sighs and pats his shoulder. ]

Well, it's all in the past! Even so, I'm the creator of this damned machine, if anyone must be blamed, it's me. You've only been into this because of me.

[ Doc then opens a nearby door, quickly takes a look and oh chance, finds a chair. He grabs it and places it near Marty.

Then he looks around and frowns. ]

Where's Einie?

[Kind of weakly, Marty flops into the chair, still too stunned to make any real coherent thought, until-]

Doc, we just destroyed the universe, and you're worried about the dog?

[Incredulous Marty get.]

[doc_brown]

He was following me and...-

[ He sighs and shakes his head, then gives to Marty one of his look "But that's evident!" ]

Marty, Einstein is the only dog from our universe still alive. And one of the three living being having been saved. It makes his existence invaluable!

[ Besides you were thinking to your guitar so- ]

Look, Doc... [Suddenly something occurs to Marty! Looking up at the doc, he gives him a funny look.]

Wait, Doc, you aren't just gonna believe a letter, are ya? I mean there's gotta be evidence, right?

[doc_brown]

It's not just about a letter Marty! Everything coincides and goes accordingly to my worst predictions. And how do you explain we, the two time offenders are here and not anyone else from our homeworld? And- Oh!

[ Of course! That is why Marty doesn't believe the letter yet. Grabbing his arm. ]

Great Scott! You didn't see it, did you? Marty, come with me, there's something I have to show you right now. It's more terrifying than anything you may have read in their letters, but believe me it is worth throwing an eye in!
