The other "Zelda" that wanders this tower is the Princess of Hyrule, in her timeline. She doesn't trust me at all; and I understand the reasons as well.
But this means she may not readily trust you, either.

Also - Despite the fact that there are many, many people by the name of Link here, none of them are evil.

But yes, she leads him to the elevator then, hitting what buttons are necessary and leading him in. It's something that doesn't exist in her world, and she'll freely admit she's ridden it once or twice just because it's pretty cool.]

This "elevator" works much like that, but it does it on its own, through some sort of power. Much like magic, but not.
That is how the lights work as well - using the same source of power.

[She's been working with stuff lately - taking things apart and poking around and everything she could to understand this place.]

This "elevator" is also completely and utterly safe. The walls are so thick, that even if it were to fall from its fastenings, it would not break. We would be safe.
